Replica 1936-1940 knuckle head frame neck forging has a 28° rake and is machined to accept stock diameter tubing. Features original DIF forging marks on the left side of the neck. Neck is drilled for a 7/8" lower horizontal tube.
Forged neck is accomplished in 4 stages: First the steel is fired as red hot ingot, next huge hammers compact and orient the grain structure into a rough shape of the part, subsequent hits form the part into its final shape, after which it is machined and heat treated which results in increased strength and resistance to wear.
